Maria Pia di Nonno

A Soul for Europe

Maria Pia Di Nonno is a PhD student in History of Europe at ‘Sapienza’ University of Rome and member of “A Soul for Europe” Strategic Group. Her research is focused on the history of the European integration process and in particular on the role of women. Previously, she has also promoted a series of conferences, supported by the group Young Leaders of Institute Luigi Sturzo of Rome, on the Founding Mothers of Europe (2015-2016).

In 2017, through to a small funding from her university, she has organized a conference on the Founding Mothers of Europe, a website and an exhibition. The exhibition/project is now traveling around Italy and it has been exposed or presented in more than 17 events (reaching more than 10.000 citizens). As an Erasmus student, in 2017, she was invited to coordinate a group of young people on the topic “Local Communities and Digital World”. The results of discussion were collected in the Manifesto of Erasmus Generation.

She has received many prestigious recognitions such as Giacomo Matteotti Prize by the Italian Presidency of the Council of Minister (2014); Italia Giovane Award (2015); Myllennium Award (2016); Lazio Creativo Award (2017) and the Grant for European Studies of the Charles V European Award – Sofia Corradi, Mamma Erasmus (2017). Among her most relevant publications on Europeans topics: Le Madri Fondatrici dell’Europa (2017); Europa. Brevi ritratti delle Madri Fondatrici (2017) and Per i giovani europei. Intervista a Mamma Erasmus (2016).
